Pastor Vernon Roberts
Vernon Roberts was a youth of the 60’s and the Civil Rights Movement in Chicago. He married his elementary sweetheart and became a father and husband in 1965. As an adolescent, he was taught all the negative ways to deal with women, which almost always produced violence. Growing up, he saw the physical and mental abuse of women as a way of life.
The violence became a part of his marriage. The misuse and abuse of women was a part of his life. In the late 60’s, he ended up being homeless for over twelve years. He was also incarcerated for two years. Shortly after he got out, he found himself headed to Florida, where he met his present wife.
Pastor Vernon turned his life over to God in 1975. He had to ask God to teach him how to be a man of God and how to treat women. God began to talk to him and showed him how to treat his wife and his daughters. One of Pastor Vernon’s favorite scriptures is Ephesians 5:25, “Husbands love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it.” God did not create women to use and abuse, but for men to appreciate women as a helpmate. Not only did God create man but also woman to help man conceive and replenish the earth.
Men have taken the role of women out of proportion, by not doing their part to provide and protect; nourishing and cherishing what God has blessed them with. As years went by, he began seeking the Kingdom of God more and more. He came upon Romans, the 9th chapter where there is an illustration of the potter having authority over the clay. He realized this is what God has with man; the Divine Authority to mold, break us down, and rebuild us in His image. As he sought the Kingdom, he asked God to mold him like clay.

Board of Directors
STAMI is fortunate to have a diverse Board of Directors who hail from various backgrounds and educational disciplines. They are all Servants Leaders, and Visionaries in their respective fields which creates leverage for the organization to thrive. They all acknowledge that it takes all of us to ensure the sustainability and financial growth of the organization to continue operating in its mission. We will ensure the bylaws are being followed and updated as the need arises. We are committed to start making STAMI a catalyst for transformation in the world, one person at a time.
